17-54 to Dragons full time.

On paper this was the most winnable game for Timisoara, though a lot with depend on how seriously Clermont and Northampton take the competition. Jackman (Dragons coach) has made it clear they want to get through the group.

Maybe someone in Romania should try this.

Entrance is free at all SL clubs

And they still can’t break 1000 most of the time. Wolfpack must be doing something right.

They did few years ago. How the interest of the superliga has fallen so much ?

EPCR did not allow Yenisey-STM to televise its match on a nationwide channel, so they could only show it on a local channel. I guess something similar happened with Timisoara's match.

That match linked above was more of an exception but true, SL fall in audience probably because non-existent advertising. But no sport in Romania, except football in some cases enjoy big audience in the stands, like national team or clubs like Steaua or Dinamo when they have interesting matches. Here is more interest for TV broadcasts. We have like 4-5 sports channels non pay per view and 4 pay per view and some limited to smaller networks. Sports during week-end at TV is abundant, one can stay and watch from Friday until Sunday late all kind of football leagues, cups or handball, basketball, rugby etc.

Highlights from Dinamo - Steaua

Morariu was appointed as president of the evaluation committee for 2026 Winter Olympic games. I guess this put the Spanish press' accusation of corruption to an end.

Don't let facts ruin a nice tale. But I believe quite the contrary, being close in any sense to IOC is getting closer to corruption :D

It's away from Spanish media ;)

Now on a serious note, I think Morariu is now at the highest point among the IOC members with rugby background.

Only a high position in the FIFA would be more suspicious :D

Look at the world ranking in July. Teams ranked 1-10 have to play one team from 11-20 (they don't play in a regular competition) away the next year. 11-20 play 21-30 away and so on. Yes, it really is that simple.

Starting XV could easily be a full Oaks one, couldn't it?

I guess this squad is more or less the full romanian squad for November tests, with foreign based players to be added

I don't know if it's his first international match after the big Bruxelles mess but Iordachescu is head referee on a next weekend Challenge Cup fixture

La Rochelle vs Enisei-STM
Referee: Vlad Iordachescu (Romania)
Assistant referees: Cristian Serban (Romania), Madalin Girbau (Romania)

Thanks for sharing.

I'm quite angry that these games are not televised. If the rights holders can't be bothered to screen the Challenge Cup games they should give them to someone who can.

I don't understand the right's holders really and this is too bad because TVR have a regional TV station in Timisoara so it would have been easy to broadcast the match.

Cristi Chirica (CSM Stiinta Baia Mare)

Halfbacks
Florin Surugiu (CSA Steaua)

Fly-halves:
Daniel Plai (CSA Steaua)
Tudor Boldor (CSA Steaua)

Robert Neagu (CSA Steaua)
Vladut Zaharia (Timisoara Saracens)

Centers:
Fonovai Tangimana (CSM Bucuresti)
Florin Vlaicu (CSM Bucuresti)
Vlăduț Popa (Timisoara Saracens)
Alexandru Bucur (CSM Stiinta Baia Mare)

Fullbacks:
Cătălin Fercu (Timisoara Saracens)
Paul Popoaia (CSS 2 Baia Mare)
Ionel Melinte (CSA Steaua)

Head coach: Thomas Lievremont
Assistants: De Villiers (backs), Dumbrava (skills)

Very strong squad, probably the strongest available with only two usual call ups missing, Andrei Ursache (prop, Carcassone) and Simionescu (fullback, Timisoara). Popoaia who still plays for a junior club is a strange call up but probably De Villiers knows him from Romania U20 and called him as an apprentice. Vulturar (CSS 2 Baia Mare) could have been called as well

He's not the only one who changed name. Steaua's hooker is now Cristi Pana ( previous name was Cornei )

Fakosilea should have taken his wife's name. Romania would be now heading for the RWC :D
Joking aside: what's the tradition in Romania? Can you freely choose the family name at the marriage like in Germany?

Yes, you can pick your spouse name, regardless of the sex, form a new name from both's spouses' names or both retain their names from before the marriage without any change. I had a colleague who choose his wife name because his was too common (Popescu).
