Brazil vs Romania will be in Jundiaí, 7:30 local time (1:30 AM in Romania). Expect nobody in the stadium. It is in the same day of São Paulo Championship final. And it is 70km from São Paulo City, no one will go there, only people in the regional around. Brazil faced Chile in the ARC 2019 there and there were about 500 people....

Some new names in the team: Taylor Gontineac 19yo (outside center), Mihai Lamboiu 23yo (wing) and a return after several years for Dorin Manole 32yo (full back) after a great season with CSM Stiinta Baia Mare in Superliga.
There is a mixture of old heads and new 'blood' (Chirica 23, Boldor 22, Onutu 23, Gordas 24)..with the entire bench under 24yo (except Robert Neagu (28)

Lemnaru's career was plagued by injuries. IIRC he did well until he was 23 and then he had that knee injury that kept him out for about a year or so and then he was never the same. He did good for us. I liked having a spredster in the national team. Good luck to him in his future endeavours.

Yes, pity he was so unlucky with injuries. He was colleague with Fercu from juniors and were both very good in back three. In full form Lemnaru was injured at heel from what I know, he stayed more than one year and when he come back he was never the same. I am afraid to see the same with Plai for his knee injury albeit he stayed less.

It's funny, Baia Mare wins the Superleague and signs a new coach. Canale has done something wrong?

We don't know details.

But Apjok is basically the artisan of the rebuild of Baia Mare club after the relegation in early 2000s due to doping. He basically rebuilt a team from nothing so he's very appreciated in Baia Mare. Many local fans were simply upset when he signed with CSM Bucuresti in 2016 if I remember well and moaned well until this year final, which was a surprising win, nobody expected Baia Mare to make it so far and actually win the match.

So...Romanian Rugby is a mess. Mihai Macovei, one of Romania's most capped players started talking smack about Danie De Villiers. According to Danie, they don't know each other at all on any level other than the two campaigns they just had. Autumn Internationals and REC. Holy hell. Danie is a solid guy.

Many things to be said about the current issues in Romanian rugby...
Personally I don't know much about the D. De Villiers/M.Macovei story, seems personal between the two...it may be one opinion, and not what everybody really think about Danie's work here.
I do hope he gets support from some of the players he worked with in Romania... I thought he was about to take the manager role at
Tomitanii Constanta this season, not quite sure now.

About the status of Romanian rugby, the article where M.Macovei aired his opinions, covers other big issues raised after CSM Bucuresti closed the Senior rugby team due to lack of state local funding (btw they decided to increase funding for the handball teams - where they have a much higher visibility in the Romanian/European sport)
The article covers on going questions about FRR guvernance, trust, accountability, profesionalism, leadership and strategy (or lack of it!); There are critical issues about fundementals of the game, poor past development at grass roots, lack of knowlegeable people to manage, create, develop the future of Romanian rugby... it follows with the role of state and political class in the game, people having to make disputable trade-off's for state funding just to last another season!...
The new Super-Liga season is due to start in a couple of weeks and no news have been published yet.

I know you're friend with Danie ;) so let's put it into perspective a bit as I watched this dispute last two days.

Macovei is not only one of most capped players but the captain of Oaks from 5-6 years already if not more. He expressed an opinion about Danie, not so nice, true and he was called a clown by Mr. de Villiers. Today Danie de Villiers come with an explanation and apologies. One of his points is that he didn't get a chance and Macovei already had an opinion about him when he was with Lievremont during Autumn 2018 tests and in 2019 REC. The opinion was not good and Macovei probably wanted to make a point about the coaching team.

However, de Villiers had plenty of chances in Romania, he coached Timisoara, CSM, U20 national squad and Sevens squad. So probably Macovei had a reason to express a negative opinion about him.

well, he was "back" to different entities, don't confuse clubs with FRR. He left Timisoara after he failed to win Superliga, in 2014 (Baia Mare was the champion). Than he stayed 1 year at CSM. He had a good season in 2018 with Romania 7s (albeit this was more due to wonderful form of Melinte who decided some very close games by his own) and a very bad one in 2019. U20s last year were bad. I'd say these are mixed results. Why is he getting jobs? I dunno and I can't judge him as coach, I don't know him.

hard to say right now, there are a lot of things to be decided. but on positives:

- rugby at national television is fine, better audience although Telekom broadcasts were class. LE: rugby will be broadcasted in HD
- new national stadium with 8500 places, hotel, all kind of fitness and physio facilities, pub, restaurant, conference rooms etc.
- SL still goes with 7 teams, would have been great with 8 but this is when you depend on outside stakeholders. CSM retains kids and juniors squads which soften the blow and retain hope for a senior team in second division next season, with a training club role for juniors up to seniors.

to be decided:

- new coaching staff for Oaks;
- sort the juniors including staff and sort the junior system entirely;
- sort the issue of financing and generally the growing model, government might not be so generous in next years ; however this is somehow over FRR reach as will need some serious ammendments to laws and during such a hot political period sport is not on the main agenda

This Saturday, two Super Liga matches will be live, unfortunately both at the same hour.

CSA Steaua București - SCM Gloria Buzău Rugby (ora 10:30, stadionul Ghencea) TVR1/ TVR HD (8:30 UK timezone)
https://www.tvrplus.ro/live/tvr-hd - not sure if it can be viewed outside Romania.

Timisoara Saracens Rugby Club - RUGBY U Cluj Napoca (ora 10:30, stadionul Dan Paltinisanu) on RugbyTv.ro (8:30 UK timezone) - this match can be viewed later, unfortunately the hours overlap

Considering the heat wave in Romania these days, it very difficult to schedule matches at a later hour, at least for now

CSA Steaua Bucuresti have also recruited a Center called Elia Morisio from Australia who played Nat 2 in England last season, has Shute Shield experience in Australia and played Fiji u20s.

I didn't heard yet about this transfer. This is odd, Steaua must have now about 40 players already. Do you have any link?

A video from Arcul de Triumf works. The stadium will be ready in May 2020:
