Polska v Europa 52:19 (31:12)

Giles do you know if Poland regard this game as a test match or just an international?

An article in the French press on Zeno Kieft, a Dutch player playing for Stade Rochelais. If you can struggle through the French or a translation far enough he explains why he no longer plays for the Dutch team. Basically his primary loyalty is to his club.

"Les championnats nationaux ne comptent que 4 ou 5 divisions"

That's very disrespectful. Having four divisions is quite healthy.
Uruguay has two dozen clubs, yet contends to qualify to the World Cup.

"Les matches internationaux tombent les mêmes week-ends que les matchs de Top 14"

Same weekends as the Six Nations. That's not a valid excuse.

Unfortunately the perfidious rugby league is infiltrating in Albania and according to the social networks the local players seem in this moment more interested in league (9s) that in union. Let's hope they just want to play both codes.
RLEF (european league board) wants them to debut in 2018 as national team against a pair of other eastern nations

Stumbled about that one as well. I actually do think that Rugby participation in the Netherlands is one of the healthiest on the continent. 15.000 players all within a driving distance of 2,3 hours in 80 clubs (The Netherlands has just 1/4 the size of Uruguay or a little over the size of Ireland) and a lot of growth potential with 17 million inhabitants. That's perfect.
How to grow rugby worldwide?
Look at the world ranking in July. Teams ranked 1-10 have to play one team from 11-20 (they don't play in a regular competition) away the next year. 11-20 play 21-30 away and so on. Yes, it really is that simple.

Rugby needs international break, as in football. That's the only way to prevent it.

Top 14 has 29 weekends. The Champions Cup has 9. The National teams at least 7 (Six Nations including its breaks) + 3 (June) + 3 November. Total = 51 weekends. An year has 52 or 53. And I am not counting clubs' pre-season and national teams' training weeks, like the one before the start of the Six Nations and the June tests. The calendar is f*ed.

The reserve scrumhalf of Liechtenstein is a woman, an italian woman! Her name is Monica, she lives in Liechtenstein, she plays hooker in women's rugby but scrumhalf when the men's team needs a player...

It's hard to consider this a test match (apparently there are also players from Ireland and GB in Liechtenstein team) but if they awarded caps, it probably would be the first ever cap received by a girl for a men's match :)

Ahi, it seems that this year, after ten glorious seasons, the Regional Rugby Championship aka Balkans Cup is not more going ahead :(
There are no news about, and in the past seasons the tournament started in september. It's a pity, I liked this competition, but this end was also quite predictable due to lack of media interest

Watching the cartoon above I've learned that the posts may be high just 40 cm more than the cross bar, which must be 3 meters over the ground. This push me to ask where the highest posts in the world are, and a simple google search brings to Wednesbury RUFC, a club of the english Midlands with 38-meters posts, like a thirteen floors skyscraper. A self-definition is "the club with the tallest posts in the planet" and they have those posts even in the coat of arms

CANALINA

Strange you have missed it ... we have discussed it at least once

On Nov 15 WR are to adopt a new, SIMPLIFIED Lawbook
and if they do NOT abandon this out-dated absurd - 40 cm above cross-bar ...

... good on them ... RUGBY will remain stuck into XIX century

No, I don't remember, I must have missed that/those discussion/s

Maybe they maintain that rule to help those starting clubs without money which can't initially afford the cost of real rugby posts

Having played on that pitch I can confirm they are stupidly high

If the translatory service is right, the Maltese RFU plan on having a new stadium next to their current tenancy of Hibernians FC's ground. Or am I wrong, and it's just like a clubhouse as said later on in the piece?

Steve Busuttil u Joseph Borda President u Viċi President rispettivament tal-MRFU spjegaw ix-xogħol li qed isir mill-MRFU, fejn fost l-oħrajn qalu li ħarġu t-tenders għall-Istadium il-ġdid li se jkun mibni biswiet il-Hibernians Stadium. L-MRFU qedgħa f’diskussjonijiet ukoll sabiex tkun restawrata l-Club House fil-Marsa filwaqt li hemm prospetti sbieħ li fil-futur qarib jista’ jkun iffurmat team ġdid mill-Universita’ ta’ Malta sabiex jibda jikkompeti fll-Kampjonat tal-Ewwel Diviżjoni tal-irġiel tal-MRFU.
