Old Christians out of the run for the title of the Argentina's Nacional de Clubes B (Argentina's clubs 2nd division). La Plata 17-09 Old Christians.

I believe Old Christians was without its Teros players, which is complicated. The calendar of both, Nacional de Clubes and South American Championship, should be alligned.

Sorry for not bragging about the Teros winning the South American Championship, I was checking the performance of a Uruguayan competitor at a slightly faster sport.

10th leg of the Uruguayan local championship

Ceibos 24- Old Christians 27
Seminario 16-Old Boys 45
Champagnat 17 - Carrasco Polo 70
Pucaru Stade Gaulois 33 - Trebol 44
Lobos 13 - Montevideo Cricket 27

In light of this, teams that will play in the next stage of the local championship have been defined.

In the "upper" part Christians, Polo, Ceibos, Trebol, Cricket and PSG will play a round robin mini tournament that will only determine ranking as all of them will advance to the play-off stage.

In the "lower" part Champagnat, Cuervos, Lobos, Old Boys, Seminario plus Club de Tenis will play another parallel round robin tournament. Only the top two teams of this group will go through to the play-off stage.

2017 Uruguayan Championship qualifier - final results

1. Old Christians, 40 pts (8-2)
2. Carrasco Polo, 38 pts (8-2)
3. Trébol, 33 pts (7-3)
4. Ceibos, 30 pts (6-4)
5. Cricket, 29 pts (5-5)
6. PSG, 28 pts (6-4)
7. Cuervos, 25 pts (5-5)
8. Champagnat, 21 pts (5-5)
9. Lobos, 19 pts (4-6)
10. Old Boys, 17 pts (3-7)
11. Seminario, 3 pts (0-10)

Great tournament by Trébol and Cricket.

Very odd to see Old Boys with a 3-10 record. Seminarios's winless tournament is less unexpected, since they have little experience in First Division.

So, the top six teams will play the Championship: Old Christians, Carrasco Polo, Trébol, Ceibos, Cricket and PSG.
The Other teams will play the Reclasificatorio: Cuervos, Champagnat, Lobos, Old Boys, Seminario and Círculo de Tenis.

As mentioned before, the six Championship teams and the top two Reclasificatorio teams will advance to the playoffs.

Old Boys looks to have suffered without its national team players, is it the case?

Well, I think it's the case for lots of rugby fans from Tier 2 and Tier 3 nations: we only discover rugby after having known a number of other sports. And having met NaBUru38 on other forums I'd say we share a common passion for motorsport.

In deed. They had several key players that were (and still are) on national team duty (Albanell, Cat, Vilaseca, others). None the less, to me the real killer was to play simultaneously the Nacional B de Clubes in Argentina and the Uruguayan clasificatorio...it became very evident that Old Boys was in no position to face two simultaneous tournaments, especially one that is clearly above and beyond the day-to-day rugby played in Uruguay. It took a toll on the players physically and mentally, and Old Boys is just starting to recover. In any case, between the end of Nations Cup and the beginning of Americas Pacific Challenge in October, club competition takes precedence in Uruguay so they will have their best squad available (except for injured players like Albanell, of course)

Jeeze, if Canada ends up as NA2, one of those games is going to be suuuuuper shitty. Even in Vancouver, average temps are around 0°C in January/February, and can easily get down to -10.

Club Champagnat hosted a women's rugby 12 tournament.
The URU is pushing to eventually achieve a women's rugby XV tournament.

There are 300 female players in the country, with two rugby 7 divisions (under 18 and senior).

In The Rugby Paper today there was a great article about the BILions touring South America in order to keep the brand alive.
The 8 game schedule included a match v Uruaguay as well as 3 v Argentina.

I'd prefer the Lions to play four games in North America and four in South America,
with four test matches vs United States, Canada and Argentina (2x),
and four A-team games vs USA Falcons, Canada A, Uruguay and Sudamérica.

Let's hope Uruguay have this advantage with their better ranking.
So first leg in BC Place or Rogers Centre.
