Re: Russian cinema.
ok so the only Russian film I ever watched is called Андрей Рублёв and is... well, maybe one of the strangest things I've ever seen. But no, I've once seen a film about Afghanistan, but I don't recall if it was from the USSR. Is there any good movie about the war from Russian/Soviet POV?
Ah now I realise that I've also watched the classic Eisenstein movie.

In the USSR and Russia many films about the war were filmed. Especially in the USSR.
I can say which movie i like most.
"In war as in war."

Or "Chronicle of a dive bomber."
Did not find with English subtitles.

I can only talk about the eighties.
Soviet films were banned in the USSR, foreign movies bought were shown in the cinema and they were sucessful.
But it was not horror or action movies.
I watched Rocky and Rembo on the VCR. But the VCR was a rarity. Usually 5-10 people gathered and watched film.
The police caught only those who took money for it.
The imported VCR cost as a machine 7-10.000 rubles. The salary of ordinary people was 180-240.
In the mideighties a Soviet video recorder apeared for 1200 rubles.
The speculantors 2 times more expensive.

Is Rocky shown on TV in Russia today?
Rocky 4 was USA v Soviet Union, the big blonde guy, Ivan Drago was the SU boxer. Do you know the film? It is the best Rocky movie in my opinion.

Yes, we have many TV channels and undoubtedly somewhere this film is shown.
I not a big fan of creativiti Stallone, but i think that the best part is the first one.

Re: Russian cinema.
The film in Russia is new. "Unforgiven" about tragedy of Vitaly Kaloyev.
In the US a film was released in 2017 "Aftermath" with Arnold Schwarzenegger about this man.
I"ll definitely watch this movie.

This scren version of novel by Alexei Tolstoy "Walking through the agony." (Хождение по мукам)
"Gone with the Wind" Russian version.
Music - L.Vainstein words - Y.Ryashentsev
Now the war is all around ... Is happiness possible now? Lord, God, take a pile, Something long ago we did not drink together .. Lord, what, do you do with people? At all there was no love and honor! Angels, Archangels, Cherubim, Which is scarier on earth, spring or winter? Angels, Archangels, Cherubim, Which is scarier on earth, spring or winter? Russian for Russian chases with a knife, Dead everywhere, frost on the skin Let the man of your mind is deprived, You just look, oh God! Angels, Archangels, Cherubim, Which is scarier on earth, spring or winter? Angels, Archangels, Cherubim, Which is scarier on earth, spring or winter? Lord, God, what are you doing, look, Do not make fierce wolves out of people. White is also red inside, Red is also white outside. Angels, Archangels, Cherubim, Which is scarier on earth, spring or winter? What's more terrible on earth, spring or winter?

It was the voice of Soviet youth in the late 1980 s.
I do not know how it will be interesting for you.
Instead of heat, the greens of glass,
Instead of a fire, smoke.
A day is caught from the grid of the calendar.
The red sun burns to the ground,
The day burns out with him.
A shadow falls on the blazing city.
Changes require our hearts,
Changes are required by our eyes,
In our laughter and in our tears,
And in the pulsation of veins
Change!
We are waiting for changes.
Electric light continues our day
And the box of matches is empty.
But in the kitchen a blue flower burns gas.
Cigarettes in hands, tea on the table,
This scheme is simple.
And there is nothing more, everything is in us.
Changes require our hearts,
Changes are required by our eyes,
In our laughter and in our tears,
And in the pulsation of veins
Change!
We are waiting for changes.
We can not boast of the wisdom of the eyes
And skillful gestures of hands,
We do not need all this to understand each other.
Cigarettes in hands, tea on the table,
So the circle closes.
And suddenly it becomes scary for us to change something.
Changes require our hearts,
Changes are required by our eyes,
In our laughter and in our tears,
And in the pulsation of veins
Change!
We are waiting for changes.
