Lurkers

Postby iul » Sun, 07 Sep 2014, 14:43

...you know who you are... Why don't you just pop your cherry and start posting? There's no need for perfect English or anything like that. Just start getting involved, the community would love to hear from you

Lurkers are like a guy who sits in the corner and beats it at an orgy.

Eh, I don't post that often. Most of you guys have much more rugby knowledge than I do! I'm content to just read what's been written, while silently judging you.

You're not a lurker grande, you made hundreds of posts. I'm talking about the users with 0-1-2 posts who mostly read rather than post. We have a Chilean here who reads the forum almost daily yet he has zero posts. It's not like the south American rugby topics wouldn't need another active local poster.

Nothing wrong with lurking. Loads of people lurk, maybe just to see different opinions on topics among certain sorts of groups, maybe they are just interested and want to learn. No point posting for the sake of it if it isn't an informed opinion. That's what your two Irish friends do.

I was thinking they might be nervous about not having very good English or feeling a bit shy or something like that.

Why not set up a few alternative language rugby discussion threads? ie a French Language Rugby Discussion thread, a Spanish Language Rugby Discussion thread, and a Georgian Language Rugby Discussion thread, where any topics related to rugby could be discussed by lurkers uncomfortable in English. Just an idea...
If they're good enough to play at World Cups, then why not in between?

nah, the point is for the forum to be an English forum one. There already are dedicated forums for those languages and others.

Perhaps the lurkers treat coming on here and reading what the regulars are saying, like a trip to the zoo to see the animals.....

I think the last debate was over the European Club Cups.
