Russia stands apart from other countries subject to broad U.S. sanctions in several important ways, and we have tailored our approach accordingly. We cannot, for example, counter Russian aggression in the same way we approach countries like North Korea or Iran. Russia’s economy is large and well-integrated into the global economy, international financial system, and global supply chains. North Korea and Iran, on the other hand, have been largely or almost entirely isolated from the global financial system for decades. Accounting for this stark contrast, we’ve surgically deployed Treasury tools to maximize pressure on Russia while minimizing unintentional spillovers to the United States, our European allies, and the global economy.

Level of competence of US government officials.

"Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke says the U.S. Navy can blockade Russia if needed to keep it from controlling energy supplies in the Middle East as it does in Europe.

"The United States has that ability, with our Navy, to make sure the sea lanes are open, and, if necessary, to blockade ... to make sure that their energy does not go to market," Zinke said on Friday at an industry event in Pittsburgh hosted by the Consumer Energy Alliance".

"The poisoned former spy Sergei Skripal was initially reluctant to believe the Russian government had tried to kill him, according to a new book, and despite selling secrets to MI6 was an “unashamed Russian nationalist”.

There are no Russian nationalists in England.
Russian thieves and traitors live there. But in fact that Russia did not poison him he thinks correct.

I do not care about the threats of the US and NATO to Russia.
I am worried about the level of incompetence of Western elite.

Russia is another civilization. Although Russians are similar to Europeans they are much more than many of current members of EU.

The Russian Empire (both USSR and Russia today) developed by over-exploiting its citizens and the Western Empires by exploiting foreign nations.
India, China, Africa, America ... Black slaves ...

And in Russia serfdom was abolshed in the middle of 19th century! The serfs were Russian peasants!
In the USSR the Baltic states and Georgia lived much better than Russia!

Therefor Russia is very quickly recovering from historical disasters.

Russians do not need to look for anyone to rob Russians only hope for themselves ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶p̶r̶i̶c̶e̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶o̶i̶l̶.̶.

No need to think that we want to destroy ̶̶A̶n̶g̶l̶o̶-̶S̶a̶x̶o̶n̶s̶ West.
This is not true.
Gorbachev simply decided to end centuries old war.
Russia withdraw troops from Europe, abandoned communism, disarmed ...
But yours returned Russia to this war again!

The expansion of NATO to our borders, un provoked attack on sovereign countries, oppresion of Russians in Baltic States and in Ukraine.
Hundreds of thousands of people are deprived of voting rights, citizenship and the right to study in their native language!

But yours don"t see it and don"t write about it in yours media.

Yours decided that yours won Cold War, but it is not.
Yours will defeat us when yours tanks are in Moscow, and foreign soldiers will walk on our land.

The West buried us in the 90s and decided that Russia"s opinion would not matter.

Russia was destined to be robbed and dismembered.

But Russians have a different opinion on this.

This time West will have to deal not with inert Soviet internationalism, but with living Russian patriotism.

Western propaganda is not designed to atract the sympaty of Russian people.
How can yours explain to me that military maneuvers on territory of Russia are aggression and US military maneuvers in Europe are a struggle for peace?

Or fact that Kosovo is freedom for Albanians and Donbass is Russian separatists?

Western propaganda is designed to atract the sympaties of Russian whores and traitors and most of the sympaties are bought for money of various funds ..

It is impossible to forecast what the nature of such terms should be. The smaller the territory left at the disposal of such a regime, the easier ihe task of imposing terms satisfactory to our interests. Taking the worst case, which would be that of the retention of Soviet power over all, or nearly all, of present Soviet territory, we would have to demand:

(a) Direct military terms (surrender of equipment, evacuation of key areas, etc.) designed to assure military helplessness for a long time in advance;

(b) Terms designed to produce a considerable economic dependence on the outside world;

(c) Terms designed to give necessary freedom, or federal status, to national minorities (we would at least have to insist on the complete liberation of the Baltic States and on the granting of some type of federal status to the Ukraine which would make it possible for a Ukrainian local authority to have a large measure of autonomy); and

(d) Terms designed to disrupt the iron curtain and to assure a liberal flow of outside ideas and a considerable establishment of personal contact between persons within the zone of Soviet power and persons outside it.

So much for our aims with respect to any residual Soviet authority. There remains the question of what our aims would be with respect to any non-communist authority which might be set up on a portion or all of Russian territory as a consequence of the events of war.

First of all, it should be said that regardless of the ideological basis of any such non-communist authority and regardless of the extent to which it might be prepared to do lip service to the ideals of democracy and liberalism, we would do well to see that in one way or another the basic purposes were assured which flow from the demands listed above. In other words, we should set up automatic safeguards to assure that even a regime which is non-communist and nominally friendly to us:

(a) Does not have strong military power;

(b) Is economically dependent to a considerable extent on the outside world;

(c) Does not exercise too much authority over the major national minorities; and

(d) Imposes nothing resembling the iron curtain over contacts with the outside world.

And this is written about those who are allies of the West in Russia.
Mutants degenerats with poor heredity.

"Another portion represents something in the nature of a natural mutation of species. It derives from a congenital fifth-columnism with which a certain small percentage of people in every community appear to be affected, and which distinguishes itself by a negative attitude toward the native society and a readiness to follow any outside force which opposes it. This element will always be present in any society for unscrupulous outsiders to work on; and the only protection against its dangerous misuse will be the absence of the will on the part of great-power regimes to exploit this unhappy margin of human nature".

All this exitement in yours media with "Russian hackers" and "Russian trolls" speaks only about one thing.

Word of truth defeats the West. With the help of missils Russia can play a draw, but we need a victory.

Guess who will build new " iron curtain"?

Whitehall officials have vowed to step up offensive cyber-capability, including the ability to “turn out the lights” in the Kremlin. That would give Britain more options if Putin ordered Russian forces to:

● Seize small islands belonging to Estonia to test whether Nato is serious about its article 5 clause stating an attack on one is an attack on all

● Intervene in Libya to gain control of oil reserves and unleash a new migration crisis in Europe

● Use irregular forces to launch an attack on British troops or threaten Britain’s new aircraft carrier.

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/news ... -dgxz8ppv0

They clearly want to deprive me of I-net!

But this is not the main thing. The main thing is why yours destroyed Libya.
What would rob Libya and get access to Libyan oil.
Europe needs oil. Billions of Libyan $ in Western banks too.

This is her less effectiv method.

Not exactly on topic but is about referendum and I don't want to start a new thread just for this.

We just had the iliberal referendum in Romania supported by ultra-conservative Coalition for Family (manned by some people with legionary sympathies) NGOs with anti-abortion, anti vaxx and generally a putinist agenda (traditionalism, against EU, West hate, gay hate), neo-protestants, Orthodox Church (but not very convinced although the faction with Russian sympathies was pretty active).

The theme of the referendum was the modification of Constitution to specifically state that the marriage is between a man and a woman and not between spouses at it is now. At this moment Romanian Civil code establish that the marriage is between man and woman and no other form of civil partnership is possible although there is political will to look into this matter. Mind, LGBT Romanian community did not asked for marriage rights yet and the only public thing they do is a gay pride parade with unimportant participation. Also except some very minor intellectual circles there was never a debate about gay couples adoption of kids. Anyway, under nowdays legislation single persons who pass an examination by social services may adopt and there is not a specific interdiction based on sexual orientation. There was a notorious journalist of 90s , dead today, a lesbian although not declared public that adopted and raised an abandoned child. Anyway I digress.

The campaign was very dirty especially from traditional side with hate speech and fake news involving ideas such as: "homosexuals will steal your kids" , "your kids will be perverted" , "in Occident they marry objects or animals" . Churches (basically everybody except the Lutherans) supported the referendum along with all major parties minus USR (centrist - liberal) and priests' pressured the believers to go to vote and in isolate cases accompanied by blackmailing they won't perform their priest's duties for persons who won't vote. The atmosphere before the scrutiny was aggravated by violent anti-EU speech of Social-Democrat Party (which is now led by a top crook who try to escape prison) , party who seem to have a significant branch that tries to establish an iliberal democracy in Romania of Polish-Hungarian-Turkish inspiration. Even timid Roexit messages appeared in social media. Sputnik presented the referendum as the Armagheddon of Romania.

The major parties jumped in the boat and the law of referendum was seriously modified to make it very simple: 30 % turnout , two days of scrutiny , no electronic real time surveillance as in normal elections.

The only opposition was constituted from parliamentary party USR following an internal referendum, the newly formed RomaniaImpreuna of ex prime minister Dacian Ciolos who is one of the signatories of a letter regarding the ressurection of Europe. The strategy was simple, boycott and was risky considering the low threshold.

But a black swan happened :D The participation was 20 % with a small peak Sunday afternoon after Church liturgy. People were not really interested in this subject although Romania is very traditionalist and pretty homophobic. There are many Christians who did not wanted to be part of a hate politics referendum and also many who voted to change the definition in Constitution who are not PSD voters. Still, many saw the trap set by head of PSD to get a popular consultation and than claim the win for himself in order to justify modification to penal code that may allow him to escape conviction. Now all PSD head are upset on Romanian Orthodox Church (who wasn't one of the starters of this but had to join eventually) because failed to rally people to vote.

After January-March 2017 protests, 10th August 2018 violences this is another partial victory against the forces who wants to transform Romania in an iliberal democracy and undermine EU from inside or even exit EU.

Sputnik writers were devastated and wrote articles about Romania losing a hybrid war of independence :lol: The funny thing is that LGBT rights were a non-subject in Romania and now it is on public agenda and many will push for a civil partnership law to cover the situation of this minority.

This happened on Putin's anniversary. ;) Happy birthday Vladimir!
