Italian team seems strong, with some of the best girls of the XV national squad like Stefan, Sillari, Magatti and Rigoni.
However from a certain point of view this is not a good symptom because the presence of the same names in all the selections (XV, 7s, university) indicates scarce depth in the basin of players.

Why there's a 2015 champion, Victorsra? I don't remember it, FISU says that the championships are biennial and that the last edition was in 2014.

Curiously, in the incoming weekend there will be three important events of minor rugby codes and all three will be in south-western Great Britain: the World University Championship in Swansea, the European men 7s stage in Exeter and the European Touch Championship in Jersey. As Italy we will have five national teams involved

To be slightly pedantic, Jersey isn't in Great Britain, geographically or politically. Its a Crown Dependency, like the Falklands (more or less)

In the little world of italian rugby there's a debate about the victory of italian women 7s university team against New Zealand, celebrated also by the mainstream newspapers as "the first ever victory of an italian team against the All Blacks". At the eyes of many fans this NZ team seemed quite poor and the match against Italy constellated by many hand mistakes. Do someone of you know if this was really the best NZ university team?

Australia and New Zealand do call players into their national squads at a younger age than most other teams - but their university squads for WUC included no national squad members.

So at a guess, no, these were not the best possible NZ/AUS university squads, but they probably were the best players from outside the national squads.
