We know, we learnt it in the comics. In all the US and UK comics or gangster stories the villains never kill the hero: they tie him to a rock near the sea, waiting the tide (sometime they tie him to a mechanism directed toward a rotating saw, but usually they prefer rock and tide); then they go away to celebrate, of course without waiting the tide, but the hero manages to rip the rope (when the sea is at his chin) and he arrest the villains. :)

In Italy we have not great tides, just half meter as far as I know. Some problems just in Venice I think

Blanca Fernandez Ochoa, one of the best alpine ski World Cup athletes in the 90s and mother of Spain's national rugby team flanker Olivia, disappeared into thin air twelve days ago. Rumors say she has a frequent recurrence of mental depression. Police and volunteers are searching her with a giant operation, but as far as now with no results

In this image Blanca is on the shoulders of her daughter Olivia, in a photo from few months ago. Olivia scored a try during the final of the European Championship won in Madrid by Spain versus the Netherlands

Just to give an idea of the impact or the news beyond the rugby link, she was the first Spanish woman to ever clinch an Olympic medal. Yes, it took until 1992 for that to happen. And until 2018 only Fernandez Ochoa family members had clinched Winter Olympic medals for Spain. Unfortunately both Francisco and Blanca are no longer with us.

1. Argentina is looking for a new 7s coach > http://uar.com.ar/2019/08/30/concurso-p ... -femenino/

2. The UAR carried out last weekend in Córdoba the first of six training camps to recruit new players. They will scout around 200 girls until the end of the year. The event included ten-a-side contests, the first formal step towards their own XVs program.

3. The provincial tournament is scheduled for November with some nice developments: separated date from the men, the inclusion of an U18 competition and the participation of Chile. In previous editions, qualification was decided taking into account the playing numbers of each union. Now the UAR created seven different regional qualifiers, which means that modest unions like Jujuy, Tierra del Fuego or San Luis will suit up for the first time ever, while bigger fish like URBA, Cuyo or Rosario make their official debuts in U18s.

I saw URBA has switched from the 10s format to 12-a-side for the second round (at least on the Top4 teams playing for the title) with the intention of making it compulsory for at least the the Top 8 (first division) to field 13-a-side teams throughout the whole tournament next season.

Also, some more "established" rugby sides are begining to embrace womens teams, like Pueyrredón and Tigre Rugby Club. VILO who used to have a women´s side in the begining of the 2000s has now commenced again. There´s also some emerging development sides who are trying to find ways to enter the competition...

All good news as they seem to want to do something about XVs and not focus only in 7s. Still a lot to do (there´s a HUGE difference between the Top 4 and ALL the rest), but baby steps....

First inter-state club rugby match in Brazil for Women's 15s:

It is the powerhouse Jacareí (finaly growing its women's team, as they were until now completely focusing on women's junior rugby) against a small Rio club called Grêmio Náutico Maricá.

La Plata RC will face Centro Naval in the URBA final on October 6. As Raven said before, the format changed to 12-a-side for the later rounds. It would be nice if Pichot’s sister convinced ESPN to stream the match.

Both finalists qualified for the national club 7s competition to be played on October 12-13 in the city of Junin (250 km west of Buenos Aires). For the first time, there will be also an U18 tournament. Here are the qualified clubs > https://urr.org.ar/camino-a-junin/

In Poland - the national Women 7's team is looking for Polish Exiles eligible to play for Poland.
The national team has ended 4th in this year's edition of Rugby Europe Grand Prix Series Rugby 7 and is really focused on improving this position next year + get into World Series.

The coach, Janusz Urbanowicz is keen on testing any player who is presenting decent level of rugby skills and can provide adequate documents about player's eligiblity.

Band Saracens (Bandeirantes Rugby Club from São Paulo, that partners the Saracens) is the new Brazilian champions. They beat Melina (the growing club from Cuiabá, Mato Grosso state capital, backed by a French agrobusiness guy that simply puts there money for his love of rugby) in the big final. But watch out Melina's improvements. They have probably now the best rugby structure in all Brazil....
