Depends what they mean? Its not the first domestic sevens tournament or series, obviously, but I guess most of the rest are club tournaments whereas this i more regional representative teams?

No, it is a clubs series. No regional representatives in Brazilian rugby at all.

Well, in that case nonsense. Many European countries have club sevens series - indeed most of them! Portugal, Malta, Sweden, Norway, Russia to my absolute certain knowledge, and from way before 2012!

I'd hazard a guess that uts not even the first series in South America!

Not even the first in Brazil! There was a national series before it too, but with a different model. It was just rebranded in 2012. I really can't understand this kind of marketing.

I can categorically tell you EL SALVADOR has had a series since at least 2011 as they have had in the past more women's teams than mens at club Rugby level

The teams for the Seven de Punta del Este were announced.
Apparently there's no women's tournament.

Oh! Common Kenya, Get in there!!!! or have we played too many tournaments and are tired.

I suspect that it is a question of money. KQ is no longer a sponsor.

I don't think money is the issue as the sportpesa deal was to take care of all national teams. Over the years KQ never mentioned the women's team in their sponsorship deal but probably helped with dubai plane tickets only. We may apply to go to dubai at the last minute like before. I also see the lioness coach wambua is now coach of mwamba and will be busy with Kenya Cup, so lets wait and see.

Kenya was present in the dubai 7s invitational tournament and reached the semi finals. I wonder why you don't have it on the team lists.

Neptune, simply because they were not in the original team list that the organisers sent out. They were included much later on when the fixtures were released.

The Dutch women have been invited to a tournament in Okinawa, Japan next month. Since the failure to qualify for Rio or the World Series a sizeable amount of money has stopped flowing into the development of the women's 7s. It will be interesting to see if they are still competitive at the lower end of the women's series teams. Good preparation too for the Canadian leg of the series for which the NL is the wild card team.

This weekend it's the Sydney Women's Sevens.

The wildcard team is Papua New Guinea, which took 3rd place in the 2016 Oceania Women's Sevens behind Australia and Fiji.

PS i've read on Wikipedia that the first women 7s match was just during there 1997 HK 7s, so the 20th birthday cake is near!
