U18:
Germany won the final against Belgium 17:15 and therefore is promoted to the highest division with an unbeaten record.
How to grow rugby worldwide?
Look at the world ranking in July. Teams ranked 1-10 have to play one team from 11-20 (they don't play in a regular competition) away the next year. 11-20 play 21-30 away and so on. Yes, it really is that simple.

Congratulations! And well done Belgium, I was surprised they beat Scotland in the semis. As for promotion, I think this is irrelevant having checked the manual. Next year there will be 16 teams in the championship and USA & CAN will be absent. So all the trophy teams except two will be involved. Not sure what happens with the British teams as it will be a qualifier for the Youth Olympics.
2. Competition Format and Match Schedule
Men’s Championship
For 2018, there will be one GB team instead of England and Wales. To maintain this tournament to 16 teams, the team
ranked 1 in Trophy 2017 will be promoted, no team will be relegated from 2017 Championship tournament.
Men’s Trophy
The Team ranked 1st of the competition will be promoted to Championship and will be seeded number 16th
for the 2018 Tournament.
Women’s Championship
USA and CANADA will not participate to 2018 competition due to Youth Olympic Game qualification, no
relegation will occur in 2017. The Tournament 2018 will be held with 16 Teams.
Women’s Trophy
No Women’s Trophy U18 Competition will be held in 2018.

This makes no sense. There were just 12 teams in the Men's RE 7s GP Series. So why would the promoted team be seeded 16th?

I think he was referring to U18 7s, not to GP 7s.

The U18 7s female tournament 2018 will be played in may, perhaps again in France, according to the portoguese calendar

Pedro de Matías is new Spanish Women's 7s coach: http://ferugby.es/noticias2.php?titulo= ... 20Leonas7s

Basically FER can't afford to hire a foreign coach.

Correct Canalina. I should have quoted a bigger chunk to make it clear.

Thanks for the scores, Thomas. I cheer for Nicaragua but I've seen they lost all the games as far as now

In Asia, Thailand defeated Hong Kong in the quarterfinals eliminating them. The two World Cup tickets are now an affair between Japan, China and Kazakhstan. Semifinals: Jap v Kaz, Chn v Tha

Interesting to see French Guiana in there. Is this their first appearance?

OTOH we miss Cayman Islands, Barbados, Guadaloupe, SVG, St Lucia, Bahamas, TCI...etc plus the big guns of USA and Canada

Guatemala-El Salvador - 17-0 was only the half-time score. The final score was 39-0.
Not found the Costa Rica-Nicaragua result yet.

First appearance of French Guiana in continental competition. They've been very successful in the Antilles Tournament though, where they regularly beat Martinique and Guadeloupe.

I sent the Costa Rican Rugby Federation a message in Spanish on Facebook, asking for the missing Costa Rica-Nicaragua score.

On Facebook, you get a little tick symbol when the recipient has viewed your message. So, they viewed my message and didn't reply.
So I then sent a list of all the scores from the competition, with the missing result highlighted in red.
They viewed this message also, and didn't respond.

Frustrating... :x

I just tried writing "So, as the result has not been published by you, and I can see that you have viewed my previous messages and not replied, I am assuming that the result is not known".

They viewed it, and again did not respond

I am now writing to the women's 7s team directly (they seem to have their own Twitter and Facebook). Women tend to be a bit more responsive/responsible than men.
