Challenge Cup 2018/19

Postby Canalina » Sun, 02 Dec 2018, 22:02

It's an early question, but do you think that next saturday's Enisei v Zebre will be shown live on line?

They play in Soci, 15 local (13 GMT)

1) Believe this will be shown by Match, in which case it should be available, probably on the RUR's social media.
2) Note on the time: 1500 local is 1200 GMT, 1300 CET in winter, just so you don't miss the first hour!

they said there won't be a TV coverage and they are currently negotiating a possible internet stream

EPCR seem to have tightened its TV/media regulations this season (Timisoara's 1st home game was not broadcast anywhere) so there is a good chance that we will see no coverage of YSTM v Zebre

Thank you

On facebook they wrote Вод свободный . I thought it meant "free stream" even if the google translation was "free water" (?), but now I suspect it just means "free entry"

No transmission nor Internet stream - verboten! Got to love how keen EPCR are to grow new markets.

Yes, same problem here, national TV wanted to broadcast Timisoara's matches but the amounts requested by EPCR were huge.

But then in French media you've got people saying it's host TV channels fault https://www.lamontagne.fr/clermont-ferr ... 75843.html

Thanks for that link, I'll forward it to my contacts from TV. I dunno how it can be their fault, Nat TV have a local studio in Timisoara and they were clear about the broadcast yet the amount requested was the issue. I heard from club the same story as from tv .

That's just an excuse; should be read as "we can't be bothered with such a low profile match".
Last season France4 produced Edinburgh v Stade Francais from Edinburgh, bringing their own French cameramen.
This season DAZN is showing away Italian matches from England, although no UK TV is showing them.

1/ the article isn't about France TV, but beinsport, the main owner. Beinsport doesn't produce abroad, it only buys images.
2/ they don't talk only about Timisoara, but too about Northampton & Newport.

Well, Clermont fans are discovering that only a few games of challenge are shown on TV. They aren't use to this :)

And for the precision : Clermont's fans are the biggest moaners of French rugby. The club is amazing, but the fans ....
"National medias don't love us, we deserve more coverage"
"National medias only love millionaire's clubs (Racing, Stade Français, Toulon, Montpellier,...)"
"Referee was bad"
"We have too many injured"
..ouin ouin ouin :D

So don't be surprised and desperate to see them moaning ...
Anyway, the club is fantastic. Great atmosphere, great players, great for youths development. If they could stop moaning that would be amazing. If only...

Further info:

National TV wanted the rights for Timisoara's matches but the owner only offered the full package. Of course the TV would have produced the matches played here if the owner of the TV rights would have agreed but they refused to sell only some matches and wanted to sell only the full packaged. The price was simply too big and it wasn't interest from Nat TV since they don't have a dedicated sports channel. Hence why produce a match you cannot broadcast..

What kind of sums were they asking for?

I don’t know the € number, but the claim is right. They’d only allow broadcast if we paid for EVERY CC game, not just the three home games we and Romania were asking for.
