I'm not as brilliantly short-spoken as RugbyLiebe, but we've dealt with this topic a number of times and I already told you that the idea of a 100% Spanish-born team is unreal because of the realities of Spanish society and rugby. With 200,000 Argentinians having come here after Corralito or plenty of European expats living near the coast it's just normal that their kids end up playing rugby here. Add to this foreign players coming to Liga Heineken and settling with families or marrying Spanish girls and French guys aware of their Spanish grandpas and now calling FER instead of the other way round...

If somebody asks me about their countries of origin like ZZ did I won't hide it, I don't think I should. I live surrounded by expats, I studied in a foreign school and I share my life with a foreigner. I get you may not feel such a national team representative just as there is people in Spain who feel that same way, but to me it's quite close to reality.

P.S: isn't the president of Georgia a French-born woman?

You really think Russia will be top 10 in 10 years if they leave Europe? Genuine question, why do you think that?

Vodka. Really good vodka.

Well. Not in top ten, but in dozen.

In the next decada a terrible economic crisis will ocur and many poor countries will not have time for rugby.

We just need development. There will be no development in Europe.

We should be in a dozen. We are potentally stronger than Georgia, Romania and Italy.
We need to focus on our Championship and try to make it profitable.
10 years is real.

Understand that we are not Europeans for them.

And more recently we also do not call them Europeans ...

I understand desir to have Schengen visa, but Russia would rather play rugby in Asia ...

I REALLY don't count as foreigners players that are living in the country since youth age. Doesn't make any sense.

Nobody can fault Spain for calling Top 14/Pro D2/Federale 1 players born in France or the Marbella raised ones. However, every selection is full with foreign journeyman from Liga Heineken. And there is a batch of new foreigners every week. Most of them are not even that good.

If you can’t get the best players from France, put the kids in like any other national team. It gets to a point when it is too much.

I agree with you, but I don't make the choices. When FER started to hold training camps every month back in September, trust me, I was kicking my head against a wall reading some names...

Santos has said more than once that he likes older players. It's not even a matter of where do they play. And then he's got some fetishes we, as Spanish fans, fail to understand. I'd have dropped some of the journeymen you mention a long ago, yet he keeps selecting them as starters.

Romania will not be able to beat Russia in the fall.
All yours can do is to naturaliz foreigners and discriminate Russia by forcings to play in off-season.

But Russia will not be abl to realiz its potential remaining in Europe.

In any case Russia looks much more naturally participating in competitions in Asia than Israel in Europe ...

Is this the new type of "this is the second team" speech?

Every nation with a real winter (including this white frozen stuff falling down) has it. Russia has the additional problem that in some places spring and fall could also be considered winter.

But it doesn't help Romania and Germany, that they can't play in their national leagues the two-three months before the REC.
How to grow rugby worldwide?
Look at the world ranking in July. Teams ranked 1-10 have to play one team from 11-20 (they don't play in a regular competition) away the next year. 11-20 play 21-30 away and so on. Yes, it really is that simple.

@Vova, are you aware Timisoara was fined twice ? Once for frozen pitch and second for a heavy blizzard which made the terrain useless.

Its not about winter! Even in Sahara snow can sometimes fall.

The fact is that Russia can not hold its Championship in autumn - spring.

And everyone else can.

In Asia official games of national team are held in Aprl-September. We get a normal rest in winter and a balanced calendar in summer.

With 2 -place after Japan we will play in WC qualifications.

You are so convinced of your master plan I fear that if it happens you may see that second continental spot clinched by a team wearing red and filled with foreign-born players... Yep, Hong Kong.

The only negative is that it will be difficut for me to collect programs of Russia.
Russia is not afraid of competition but competition must be fair!

Jones about match with Spain.
"Our players have not played a single match in four months, while Spain is in middle of season."

I hope that all this will ever grow into something more ...
