According to a Rovigo's newspaper the two places in Challenge Cup could be awarded to the southafrican Pro14 teams, already in the next season

I haven't read the original article, just the mention in a forum; so I don't know further details

Calvisano v Rovigo, this saturday, will be shown live by http://www.therugbychannel.it

Oh dear!..... I have nothing against SA Pro 14 teams, but then should no longer be European Rugby Challenge Cup.

In the end, not sure why I question such decision (if indeed true!!) ...Pro14 is owned by the Irish, Welsh, Scotish Rugby Unions with the Italians due to get a share of the pie this year (!!!...if they play game)...

Anybody else are just invited there...I think it should be called Britannia Chalenge Cup!!

Good on them, they should go ahead. Finally a case for the EU monopoly commission then.
How to grow rugby worldwide?
Look at the world ranking in July. Teams ranked 1-10 have to play one team from 11-20 (they don't play in a regular competition) away the next year. 11-20 play 21-30 away and so on. Yes, it really is that simple.

Romagnolo a pagina XVII
L'INUTILE “COPPA GAVAZZI"
O tutto o niente.

by the way, Yenisey-STM's new SA assistant coach said this earlier this month:

But why the Dragons? The next worst team this season was Perpignon (yeah, I know that it is unlikely that this might have anything to do with sport results :D )

A very telegraphic translation of the article posted by Armchair...

The Italian Federation chairman said to the Calvisano's and Rovigo's president that it's still not certain that the winner of the Shield will qualify to the Challenge Cup...
...anyway times are not still ready for this inclusion of the two south-african teams, so for the edition 2019/20 the participation of an italian side should be granted (but this seems a deduction of the journalist). The idea is to field a combined italian team: Calvisano+Rovigo+Accademia Nazionale (the federal team made of U20 players competing in the second national championship).
The money award for the Shield victory is 40K €, while the award for every match won in the pool phase is 15K €.

So very probably Calvisano and Rovigo are going to battle not for any sport prize but just for these 40,000 euros

I think the Continental Shield will be remembered as the most down-at-heel, poor and plagued tournament ever

Tatarus is listed as a forward but often plays winger/centre. He has played as much 3rd line as centre/winger this seazon because of Timisoara's lack of players. Neculau has 1 cap.

Seeing as the continental shield looks all but dead after this season this wouldn’t be a bad thing if they added 4 more teams to the challenge cup on a permanent basis. Eg the Italian, Romanian, Russian and Georgian champions

It would be nice, but the problems are on a sport base (would they be not far from the level of the other clubs?) and on a economic base (would they provide a good amount of spectators at home, attract a good amount of spectators away and offer a good tv deal?). The answers, so far, have not been so comforting

20-0 for Timisoara in second half.

I wonder if they were drunk in the first half.

I am sure they are impatient
As a friend of mine put it, Timisoara looks like a Brazilian football team, they play only when they're in the mood
