Spanish squad against France:
Delanteras: Isabel Rico, Jeanina Vinueza, Claudia Alonso, Laura Delgado, Alexandra Castillón, Saioa Jaurena, Amanda Prados, Judith Vélez, Anna Puig, Lourdes Alameda, María Losada, María Calvo, Paula Medín y Carmen Rodera.
Tres cuartos: Anne Fernández de Corres, Carlota Melíz, Maria Ahís, Lucia Díaz, Beatriz Domínguez, Elísabet Martínez, Ingrid Algar, María García, Sabina Hurtado, Marta Carmona, Carmen Olías y Arantza Olabarria.

Iera Echebarría, Marina Bravo, Bàrbara Pla and Uribarri Barrutieta are out, I understand they will focus from now on 7s.

0-61 at HT against basically France U23. That's disheartening.

Trying to work out whether or not any given international is a test is becoming increasingly difficult.

Yesterday's Spain v France a case in point - NOT a test going by the referees list, and the fact that Spain had selected 26 players as they had against Scotland. But on the day they fielded only 23, and there is nothing on the Spanish or French sites to suggest it is not a test - and France are fielding the same team next week against Italy in what definitely is a test.

Brett Gosper's formerly useful Tweets on the subject are increasingly unhelpful as they seem to be "approving" any game, even if only one national team is involved.

So - any views on yesterday's game, from a classification point of view rather than an "OMG what has happened to Spanish rugby"?

Italy v England, first round of Six Nations 2018, will be in my city, Reggio Emilia (middle-north of Italy), sunday feb 4th.
It's the first time for a Six Nations match in Reggio, so very good news. The chosen stadium has a 4,000 seats capacity, I hope in a 2,000 people crowd

Some news on the test match classification front.

According to World Rugby Zimbabwe v Zambia and Finland v Sweden this year were NOT tests. Not entirely sure why as everyone involved said they were tests.

BUT the 2013 Namibia v Botswana game HAS now been recognised as a test.

Have to say that I am now totally at a loss to work out how test status is being awarded.

England seems destined to dominate the scenario also in the incoming years, together with NZ and maybe with France

Tomorrow's match between Italy and France (kick off 14.30) will be live on line, even if maybe not with awesome streaming quality
It's on www.retebiella.it/diretta-streaming.php
or on the Federazione Italiana Rugby's app, available for smartphones

Great effort by Italy, lost 21-41 but were leading 21-20 into the second half.
