Rugby in Brazil
Re: Rugby in Brazil
Rio de Janeiro and Rio Grande do Sul now cancelled the 2020 season. Minas Gerais said "only with vaccine", so this means no official rugby in Brazil at all this year.

Ouch.

Re: Rugby in Brazil
Brazilian rugby burning today. CBRu fired the CEO, Jean-Luc Jadoul, and anounced a new CEO, Eric Romano. In less than 24h obnoxious sexist comments Romano made on social media appeared, it was on general media and now he stepped down. Probably one of the most bizarre moments in the history of Brazilian rugby. Now we are CEO-less a sequence of bad choices.

Re: Rugby in Brazil
Was Romano an interesting profile for CBRu, or his appointement was equally suspicious? IIRC you were reasonably happy with Jamoul.
Re: Rugby in Brazil
I was happy with Jadoul. Romano was a bet to change the profile. But I personaly thing Jadoul was the type of guy we needed in the current context.

No more rugby matches at Pacaembu Stadium until 2023. The stadium will close to football and rugby while an E-Sports arena operates there.... https://www1.folha.uol.com.br/esporte/2 ... orts.shtml

Results of the Brazilian Rugby Union (CBRu) elections: https://brasilrugby.com.br/2020/11/03/r ... o-de-2020/
Here is how it works: CBRu has a Council with 13 people, elected for 4 years (2021-2024). 5 of them are elected by Clubs/Regional Unions, 2 by the Players (1 man and 1 woman, elected by the new Players' Comitee), 1 by the Referees and 5 are independent members nominated by an Elective Comitee (formed by people from the previous Council).
The new Council will elect the new CBRu Chairman.
Were elected:
- 5 Clubs/Unions representatives: Alexandre Chioffetti, Fernando Mirandez, Martin Jaco, Paula Korsakas and Vivianne Valente;
- 1 referee: Natasha D`Andrea Monica Olsen
- 5 independent members: Fabian Daniel Maggiori, Fabiano Gelatti Ferrari, Juarez Lorena Villela Filho, Julie Marielle Yvonne Cransac and Ricardo Marangoni Filho;
- 2 Players' representatives TBC by the Players' Comitee;
And the 5 Athletes elected for the Players' Comitee are: Alcino Pisani Amato, Antonio Gorios Filho, Beatriz Futuro Mühlbauer, Benedito Rodrigues Filho and Marjorie Yuri Enya. They will soon elect their 2 Council members. Unfortunatly, only around 200 players voted, but more than 4.000 were able to vote... very low %...
Anyway, I have good feelings about the new Council, let's see.

The Brazilian Rugby Union anounced today a new CEO: Mariana Miné: https://www.portaldorugby.com.br/notici ... m-nova-ceo
She doesn't have a rugby background, so let's see. It is positive news anyway.

The Brazilian Rugby League Confederation launched the new kits of the Carcaras, Brazilian rugby league national team. People are saying it is much better than the Rugby Union's kit.... I must agree....
