Superliga Americana de Rugby (SLAR)
Re: Superliga Americana de Rugby (SLAR)
FT- Cobras 10-66 Selknam. Pure disaster for Brazil, that clearly is behind Chile now. We are paying for a unsustainable growth.
Last time Brazil lost to Chile by 30 points or more was in 2009.

Who would have thought that 0-20 COVID defeat against Jaguares XV would actually be a good result for Cobras?

Re: Superliga Americana de Rugby (SLAR)
How much of the Selknam and Cobras lineup were composed of Chilean and Brazilian players respectively? Were these teams close to national teams? Chile seem to have really pushed on again and look a candidate for 2023 qualifying now.
Re: Superliga Americana de Rugby (SLAR)
The starting line up of Selknam considered 12 chileans and 3 argentinians : 4, 9 and 10. The 12 chileans are part of the national squad. Nevertheless I think it is very risky to keep permanently this pair of half backs, their game has been very good but they are not allowing the development of chileans half backs. The experiment against Jaguares XV (a chilean SH) did not work out but it is necessary to keep trying other alternatives. The relative success of Selknam should benefit the National Team, it is good to get results but also to promote and develop players in key positions.
There are not 56 points of difference between the chilean and the brazilian national teams, it was only one match between two franchises, one based on the Condores and the other on the Tupis.

Cobras had 3 Argentines in the starting XV (3, 4 and 15) and 2 in replacements (16 and 23). All Brazilians are Tupis players. There are only 3 Tupis abroad (1 in MLR and 2 in the Italian Top 10). We still had important players missing in the first row due to covid, but the other positions don't have much excuse.
Brazil has no advantage over Chile anymore since Chile is now pro. We were beating Chile because our high performance program was better. Now, other things will count. Their club rugby (specialy junior rugby) is way better than ours. We'll struggle a lot in the next years. Nothing that wasn't said before here.

Former Tupis yes, like Michael "Ilha" Moraes, Luan "Big Mike" Almedia, Ruan Weiss, Rafael "Grilo" Morales and Matheus "Matias" Daniel. Two that went for a short period to Portugal (Caique Silva and Moisés Duque) returned to sign for the Cobras.

Ah yes, I got mixed up given the recent game between Tupis and Lobos, thought there were more.
That I know of, Chile now has (apart from the whole Selknam setup) Torrealba, Bursic and Kalm playing pro in MLR, a few in Federale 1 (Inaki Ayarza, Javier Meneses Arriagada to name the most notable) Simon Pardakhty in Albi (Nationale). I remember there was a guy in the Toulouse Espoirs a few seasons ago, don't know if he's still around. There are also a few playing in New Zealand and Spain Division de Honor too, but don't know if they would be called up.
I'd love to see some Division de Honor / Peroni Top 10 / Federale 1 and below, South Americans turning to the SLAR, but I have the feeling that most of the players there are fine playing semi pro rugby too and enjoy the experience of living in Europe.
Re: Superliga Americana de Rugby (SLAR)
Michael "Ilha" might return, not sure.... maybe, he played against Portugal and he can play as lock, that is a position we have few good players.
But of those Chileans, who can return to the Condores? Torrealba for sure... Bursic too? I think Bursic's last test was in 2018, not sure. What about the others?

Re: Superliga Americana de Rugby (SLAR)
We did an analysis about Cobras' form. It is in Portuguese, but with plenty animation.
Re: Superliga Americana de Rugby (SLAR)
I liked the analysis, although you should have a different one for each match in accordance with the opposition and the way it was played. In the australian site "The Roar" there is an excelent analyst called Nicholas Bichop who descomposes the most important moves of the match showing the mix of decision and action of the key players. I recommend it strongly. I believe the post match detailed analysis should be an important component of the preparation of each team, it is an essential element of the Coaching function know how.
Re: Superliga Americana de Rugby (SLAR)
Thanks, mate. Yes, the problem is it takes a lot of time and we are also publishing news daily... so, we decided to make one after the 5 first rounds because, well, our operation is very small. But we'll try.
Re: Superliga Americana de Rugby (SLAR)
I read that 2 players of Jaguares XV are joining the squad in Montevideo as they couldn't travel to Chile, so I suppose the Argentine franchise wasn't complete during the 1st round?
Are the Cobras complete now Victor? or will they play with the same guys who where in Chile? To be honest I didn't follow the arrival (or not) of the squad members who had picked up the virus before traveling.

Re: Superliga Americana de Rugby (SLAR)
Well, almost. Jardel Vettorato returned to Brazil (personal reasons) and "Zé" Tranquez was replaced by youngster Gabriel Zurka Quirino (coach's choice). Abud returns, which was very necessary. Of the two Argentines signed during the COVID emergeny, González was released, but Luna is now promoted to permanent. Devon Muller is still out.

FT - Cobras 12-62 Jaguares XV. Only 40 points difference. 2nd best against Jaguares. Pretty good score in fact.
