Azerbajian should be Asia, but it's classed as Europe (politically). Israel is classed as European as well, if you watch Football (soccer) European qualifiers, you'll see Israel in them
It's all politics, even if they aren't technically Europe, geographically.
I mean, Europe ends at the Caucasus mountains (Azerbajian/Georgia area), supposedly.
My point is, what you first thought of Europe, isn't anymore, there is no actual European zone..... nowadays
Re: Rugby Europe International Championships 2019-2020
Azerbaijan and Israel are both Rugby Europe members. That's what matters for the list.

I'm sure Algeria is a mistake though. Algeria competes in Africa.
Re: Rugby Europe International Championships 2019-2020
There are many mistakes. Israel, Azerbaijan, Guatemala, Solomon Islands, Algeria, all in the wrong continent if continents = rugby federations.
Re: Rugby Europe International Championships 2019-2020
Netherlands XV got an exceptional status from the dutch governant to keep training during the recently announced lock down (where all other amature sport above 18 got canceled for 4 weeks). With club completion and trainings canceled, this might actually mean they can arrive well prepared for the promotion game the 14th of November.

Sad but right, I suppose. The pandemic is again hitting hard, here in Europe. In some italian regions the experts say that the contagion is "out of control" (it means that they can't figure out anymore an approximated number of the infected people) and three clubs of rugby Top10 already recorded covid19 cases, despite just two games were played so far

So far no confirmations from the rugby media of the other european nations. Could the spanish post be a wrong one? Hard to believe, but let's hope it
Meanwhile RE changed the result of Poland v Ukraine from 0-0 to 0-25, so this is the final Trophy chart of the season 19/20

http://rugby.org.ua/upload/photos/12210 ... 9968_n.jpg
And this, according to the Polish federation website, should be the autumnal Trophy calendar
2020-10-24: Lithuania v Ukraine
2020-10-31: Ukraine v Poland
2020-11-21: Germany v Switzerland
2020-11-28: Poland v Switzerland

Russia v Romania is off as well this weekend. Rugger claims it's because Romania has several COVID cases https://rugger.info/news/36728

Sorry to quote myself, but I can't see REC being played as planned in February and March...
Armchair Fan wrote:I am really concerned about REC and RWC qualifiers. Our women's national team just had to suspend its training camp because of two positive tests. What are the odds of no outbreaks among six teams travelling all over Europe and coming back and forth from their clubs for 7 weeks? Is Rugby Europe working on alternative scenarios and formats if everything goes wrong?
OK, I talk from the country in worse shape (and I've suffered the direct consequences) and I get others shouldn't care about our issues, but it would sound wise to me if home and away games between the same teams were played in consecutive weekends over the next two years to reduce greatly the risks, for example.
Re: Rugby Europe International Championships 2019-2020
Just a "game": a comparison between 6N+REC and UEFA Nations League (they've the same format, more or less)
So it would appear the REC with the current UEFA Nations League ranking (https://it.uefa.com/uefanationsleague/standings/)
Six Nations: France, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Netherlands
REC: Denmark, Germany, England, Poland, Ukraine, Croatia
RET: Switzerland, Sweden, Bosnia Herz., Iceland, Wales, Austria
Conf 1 North: Finland, Norway, Scotland, Russia, Ireland
Conf 1 South: Czech Rep., Hungary, Romania, Israel, Serbia
Conf 2 North: Slovakia, Bulgaria, Northern Ireland, Slovenia, Belarus
Conf 2 South: Turkey, Montenegro, Albania, Armenia, Greece
Development: Luxembourg, Macedonia, Lithuania, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kosovo, (Kazakhstan), Cyprus, Estonia, Moldova, Faroe, Gibraltar, Malta, Liechtenstein, Latvia, San Marino, Andorra
The nations with the best difference from rugby to football are Denmark and Bosnia H. (23 positions better in football than in rugby). Czech Republic is 19th in both the rankings. The nations with the worst difference from rugby to football are Ireland (25 positions worse), Malta (-30) and of course Georgia (-35)

Re: Rugby Europe International Championships 2019-2020
Your proposed game looks interesting, but I would like to sort the teams different:
League A: England, France, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Georgia, Italy, Spain
League B: Romania, Russia, Portugal, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Poland
League C: Ukraine, Czechia, Malta, Lithuania, Croatia, Sweden, Luxembourg, Moldova
League D: Israel, Kazakhstan (they are in UEFA Nations League
), Latvia, Hungary, Slovenia, Denmark, Andorra, Bulgaria
League E: Bosnia & Herzegovina, Austria, Finland, Serbia, Norway, Monaco, Greece
I have chosen all the european countries from the world rugby ranking in the order shown there.
For each league there could be done two groups of 4 teams and of course keep the promotion/relegation rule and the semifinals and finals for the league A.

Re: Rugby Europe International Championships 2019-2020
He was trying to do the opposite: football teams classified in Rugby Europe structure. You sorted rugby teams under UEFA structure.
Re: Rugby Europe International Championships 2019-2020
If you gave them a two week conversion course in rugby skills I wonder which football teams would make the best rugby teams. Make it a three week course because it will take them a week to learn not to fall over and writhe in agony every time they were touched.

The British players would know how to play rugby, I'm sure. They mostly probably played for their school team.
