Portugal vs Brazil - Nov 21st + 28th

Postby victorsra » Thu, 12 Nov 2020, 23:00

The Brazilian Rugby Union just anounced that Brazil vs Portugal will happen! https://www.instagram.com/p/CHgW9ntpUHv/

Probably both matches in Lisbon.

Both countries played each other 4 times - 3 times in Brazil, 1 time in Portugal (in Coimbra... which means it will be the first time ever in Lisbon). 2 victories for each side.

I'm surprise by the Portugal-based Tupis being called. Interesting nice move.

Any idea if this is being shown anywhere I can see from Ireland? I'm dating a Brazilian girl so I've started to take a bigger interest in their rugby team hahaha

Kearnc : the probability that the girl knows something about Rugby is very low. If you want to succeed with her, I strongly recommend you :

a.- Learn some Portuguese language.
b.- Start learning how to dance samba.
c.- Get a short tutorial on "how to prepare caipirinhas"

Mix your gaelic passion with these 3 elements and you will get into the 22...

Not all Brazilians listen to samba or dance it ;) We are very diverse in music, there are all tastes.

If the girl is nordestina, do you imagine this guy trying Forró or Bailao dances? Attempting to catch up with Luis Gonzaga rhytm and tunes? I don´t

Could there be more "European based" Brazilians playing? I suppose opportunities like these could be beneficial for Brazil... explore European based players that could potentially play for Los Tupis, try and get them into the system somehow?

Where's Luiz Gustavo Lemes Vieira now, he used to play in France...?

There are not that many Brazilians playing in a good level abroad - at least not in clubs with better high performance structure than the Tupis (that train in the best academy for Olympic athletes in Brazil). The Portugal-based players played for a long time in the Tupis, so there's no surprise about having them. I only thought they moved to Portugal after realised to be out of the plans (but clearly not the case), hence my surprise.

Vieira moved last year to Brazil. He might play in the SLAR next year. He was left out of SLAR's squad in 2020 but for personal reasons (not sure why). The coaching staff recently told they want him back and in SLAR.

I know it, maybe you can offer her a Uilleann pipe serenata. I like very much the Chieftains and the inmortal Dubliners.

Questions for the portuguese posters :
The potuguese squad looks much stronger than the which one toured Southamerica last year. ARN mentions that some France based players are misswing, how important are them? Is going to be the strongest team that Portugal can present in 2020?

The referees are known? I was curios to see if there was some italian ref but I suppose they will be from Spain or from Portugal itself

This should be an entertaining and a competitive tests. Both teams have been developing quite well in the last couple of years and its hard to see a favorite in this contest.
Should we expect Portugal to add any more players from the French league?

Referee: Alexandru Ionescu (France)
Assistant Referees: Vlad Iordachescu (Romania), Radu Petrescu (France)

No TMO.

Is Ionescu a Romanian ref that moved to France while as a ref or was he born or started career in France?

Maybe it is a mistake, FRR and not FFR.
