Re: Georgia (Lelos)
What a great team that is... would love to have seen bregvadze starting but still a good team. Let's hope the boys will fight with heart and "jigari" and make Georgia proud. The forwards look strong as fuck on paper, good to see Koki starting. He is fucking machine and one of my favorite players for Georgia. Whatever happens, Abzhandadze will have troubles to play against such a great team but what an experience for him, Modebadze and Kveseladze - all of them will be around for the next few world cups. Go strong boys!
Re: Georgia (Lelos)
Is there a list of the Georgian players in top 10 domestic league for each club as i am having trouble finding it,or not showing up under google translate, also A and B leagues. I Did have it at one stage but disappeared when competition started.

Re: Georgia (Lelos)
Just give my thoughts on Georgia on world cup and going ahead.
Overall they did ok,they got beaten by the pace Wales and Fiji played the game, which was a level Georgia was not used too.
A very good win over Uruguay and a gutsy defensive effort against Australia.
The youngsters coming through are talented and with regular games against tier 1 teams? the team will only improve.
Gogichashvili and Karkadze are already good players for there age and will only improve with time.
the lock situation is a bit slim on standouts. Jaiani and Chachavadze look to be future prospects.
Loose forwards, well plenty of talent around, its just remains to be seen who can step up to regular top teams in Europe, and follow M Gogodze lead.
Aprasidze and Abzhandadze are world class for there age,so its how they develop from here is key.
Centres are again light on talent. Lasha Lomidze,Demur Tapladze,Kavtaradze, lutidze and i think Giorgi Kvesiladze have some skills to showcase in future.
Wingers fullback. You need fast, big wingers these days, with occasional lightweieght backup,ie Cheslin Kolbe. Again area they struggle in.
Davit Niniashvili the young 18 year old fullback, looks to be the real deal, speed, size and can tackle.if they can find some more players like him, then Georgia has making of a talented backline. Modebadze,Sichinava,Tabutsadze i quite like look off, they wont be playing for top overseas club team anytime soon, but have a bit of talent.
Lets see what the future Georgia coach has in mind.

Re: Georgia (Lelos)
My 2 cents. Overall disappointing World Cup for Georgia, its not the final outcome that is disappointing but its the way we lost to Wales and Fiji. The margins were too big in both games, I expected better resistance from Georgia in both games.
The defense was a huge problem, I only saw improvements with Australia. Selection of some players also raises big questions. Gorgodze could have played at lock where he would have been more useful in my opinion. Front row selection was questionable. The fullback position is a huge problem as always, but not to be too hard on Matiashvili it was never going to be easy to stop Fijians. Our main weapon - scrum was absent this World Cup. The line outs and mauls were mediocre. Too many turnovers given in rucks. I think our coaching staff did not put enough emphasis on basics and Georgia suffered from this.
Nonetheless, I think with the right coach, future is bright for Georgia as long as player base keeps growing. Some good prospects are coming up, not sure about the fullback though. Also more emphasis should be put on speed and intensity, top teams play totally different game.

Quality foreign coach needs to be hired after the GRU elections. Also they need good coach for backs that can actually make a difference. I hope that the rumors about Maisashvili as the next coach are false because it would be a step backward. Time cannot be wasted.

From what I've heard Maisashvili is taking over as head coach for next year's European championship and after that they'll appoint a new coach.

Re: Georgia (Lelos)
I think like many T2 nations, there was good parts and bad parts to Georgia's campaign. Attack is the issue now. The defence against us was rock solid. They need that extra gear though to score. IF they want to claim a Top 10 win they have to have an attacking mindset.

So we basicly lose one year or even worse... terrible news. The defence has been abysmal other than against Australia. Wales ran trough us in the first 20 like swiss chees, how can we now appoint this bloke as head coach. Incredible!

Its ridiculous!!!! After automatic qualification last WC we wasted the European championships by not build depth, bringing younger guys in, setting up for this WC. Now more time wasted!
We really needed to chase and chase hard a top coach months before this WC, now I fear we'll be scrapping the barrel for a coach.
I'd love to see the new president chase Eddie Jones!!!

A coach like Eddie jones or any number of top coaches will probably ask for more money than they get paid by Tier 1 unions. Do you think we can pay them more than England or France?

That is a problem. GRU has no money to get a prominent coach and pay a big salary.
However if we are lucky enough there is a chance to invite a talented specialist and ambitious personality wishing to make a good carrier thru achieving good results with the Georgian national team.

Re: Georgia (Lelos)
Although I wouldn’t go as far to say it was a bad World Cup campaign, it was a tough group and Fiji turned up to play and caused Wales & Australia major problems as well.
I think in terms of playing Scotland x 2, Australia, Wales & Fiji it will really stand to the younger players. Georgia effectively had 5 tier one matches in the space of 6 weeks.
These things take time and given the right coach Georgia will develop their backline however it is a long term project. Getting more and more backs into the French professional leagues is important. The GRU, although some Georgians might say otherwise, seem a progressive union and have done great work promoting the game internally. I just hope that World Rugby can get Georgia more Tier 1 matches.

same happy talk we had for the last 10 years, so boring. we need less "it will be all fine" and more results.

Re: Georgia (Lelos)
Is this Georgian Rugby Union financial report? Would it be possible to say what's their 2019 budget? 33,558,418 GEL or my suspicion is plain wrong? Thanks.
Re: Georgia (Lelos)
i saw a little bit of the Academy jiki game. A entertaining skillful game.
The young halves combination of Iashvili born 2002 and Modzgvrishvili 97 for Academy created havoc in the first half. Iashvili looks to be a super talented player, very quick, elusive and excellent passing game.
Modzgvrishvili has come on a lot this season, and out played former lelo international from jiki.

Re: Georgia (Lelos)
Is there any way the scorers page for Georgia league domestic teams can be transfered into a smaller pdf form, google translate does not work as page is to large to translate,it does strangely work for top 10 teams only.
