In general modern Russian cinema is shit.
But there are exceptions.
Once a week i will give a link to the film.
Maybe someone will have a desire to write something ...

Re: Russian cinema.
The only Russian film I've seen was Night Watch (Ночной дозор). Pretty good vampire movie, if you're into that sort of thing.

This is a Soviet film!
Soviet and Russian cosmonauts have a tradition to watch this film before flying into space.

I'm no fan of historical Romanian movie from Communist timeframe.
From recent movies, if you can find this one with English subtitles and enjoy satire, it's a very good one:

Several years ago there was a film about the great Soviet hockey player Valery Kharlamov.
By the way his mother was from Spain. From Baskonia.

I watched your movie. The first such films were filmed in the USSR, for example "Neptune Day" or "Comedy of strict regime." The last film "Park of the Soviet period" 2006.
Included in the 70 most disastros Russian films.
A song from the Soviet-Romanian film "Songs of the Sea" 1970.

I know the story, it was even filmed partially in the Basque Country. A Spanish sport history doctor found out a decade ago the real name of his mother after latin-cyrillic-latin translation had messed it up badly: http://olimpismo2007.blogspot.ru/2012/1 ... e-ser.html
Thanks a lot.

Zvyagintsev is a director who shoots films for the Western viewer about Russia.
And what does the western viewer want to see? Terrible Russia.
In Russia no one looks at his films. But he a good director ...

Re: Russian cinema.
And heres another movie about 1953.
"THE DEATH OF STALIN".
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQ0C_1ocQC0
By the way in the film Georgy Zhukov is very similar to Stalins son - Vasily.

In the film Steve Buscemi starred. I think saw him in the movie "The Birth of a Nation" in 1905))
He is everywhere ...
The film is banned for display in Russia. Controversial decision i would not prohibit.
Zhukov and Stalin are respected in Russia, this is how to remove the comedy about the death of Queen of England or Mother Teresa ...
But i would not forbid the film would have had no sucess with the audiences.
