Good obscure movies
I'm talking about movies that only grossed 2-3 million at the box office at the most or ones that were made on tiny budgets. I enjoyed "In the company of men" for example. Tell me your favorite ones.
Re: Good obscure movies
Two French comedies I watched recently:

"El Mariachi" - the ultimate low budget movie
Dark Star and Silent Running ( both 70s sci-fi classic )
The Damned United - about Brian Clough, not a football fan but this was really good
I don't know how much these made at the box office though

Ok, this is not obscure, I just take advantage of this thread to not open a new one.
It's "Casino" by Scorsese, in original language. It worths a watch, if you don't already know it. One of my favorite mafia movies. Strangely it's free on youtube

Re: Good obscure movies
It seems nice but it's hard to me to follow a movie in english. I watched "Casino" because I had already watched it a pair of times in italian so more or less I remembered the dialogues, but unfortunately a whole english movie is still hard to me.
I didn't know the "feast of seven fishes", it must come from the south of Italy

Re: Good obscure movies
I like a lot this trailer, but according to the recensions the movie is not a masterpiece. "Cute but not really hitting the target", more or less they all say
Re: Good obscure movies
if you want to watch a really good and very obscure movie from Germany, I'd say you try "the Cat"

"Boy", by Taika Waititi, has also a little rugby scene in it, I think acted by the same Waititi. The film was a blockbuster in New Zealand in 2010, but it never arrived in Italy as far as I know
A tongan filmaker made a remake/parody of the intro scene of "Boy", in a short movie titled "Toko"; the hero of the protagonist is no more Micheal Jackson but Jason Taumalolo, a famous tongan rugby league player
...and a "Thriller" haka, again from movie "Boy"

Re: Good obscure movies
Thanks to a mention by Rugby Chile I discovered this 2017 french movie, "The mercenary"
It's about a pacific island player going to France. I have watched just the first half hour, so far, and it seems not bad
This youtube version is in spanish, with (unreadble) subtitles when they speak in polinesian. There's also a georgian player!

Re: Good obscure movies
It's on Netflix also in Italy, someone said me
The main actor, Toki Pilioko, is now a prop in Dax, Federale 1
His georgian friend in the film, Bessarion (Besso) Udesiani, was a Lelos during the World Cup 2007

Maybe other actors were rugbymen

Finally got to watch it last week on German Netflix and your recommendation was spot on. Good movie.
How to grow rugby worldwide?
Look at the world ranking in July. Teams ranked 1-10 have to play one team from 11-20 (they don't play in a regular competition) away the next year. 11-20 play 21-30 away and so on. Yes, it really is that simple.

"Fuwaku no scrum", a 2018 Japanese tv series; maybe in 7 episodes.
Plot: a desperate man, perhaps attempting a suicide on a river, is hit by a rugby ball kicked from a near field (maybe a remembrance of Capra's "It's a wonderful life", with a rugby ball in place of the angel?); the oldie rugby team there training ("Fuwaku RC", really existing) welcomes the casual and reluctant new member. This is episode 1, in Japanese.
As for other tv Japanese products, don't wait for too high artistic quality...
