2019-20 World Rugby Women's Sevens Series
https://www.world.rugby/news/439419
Calendar:
5-6 October, 2019: Infinity Park, Colorado, USA – women’s standalone event
5-7 December, 2019: The Sevens, Dubai, UAE – combined men’s and women’s event
13-15 December, 2019: Cape Town Stadium, Cape Town, South Africa – combined men’s and women’s event
25-26 January, 2020: FMG Stadium, Hamilton, New Zealand – combined men’s and women’s event
1-2 February, 2020: Bankwest Stadium, Sydney, Australia – combined men’s and women’s event
3-5 April, 2020: Hong Kong Stadium, Hong Kong – combined men’s and women’s event
2-3 May, 2020: Westhills Stadium, Langford, Canada – women’s standalone event
30-31 May, 2020: Stade Jean-Bouin, Paris, France – combined men’s and women’s event
To kick-off in the middle of the RWC is not wise.... Colorado's tournament should be in early november... can't see why not. Possibly to avoid snowfall?

Looks like the women's qualifier will definitely not be in Hong Kong. https://www.scmp.com/sport/rugby/hk-sevens/article/3025524/hong-kong-sevens-keep-world-series-mens-qualifier-2020.
It may not even be just one tournament:
"World Rugby, which runs the 10-leg HSBC World Sevens Series, is keen to move away from the one-off qualifying tournament and turn it into a three-event series to give teams more than one chance to attain core status."
Which suggests a first step towards the second tier World Series that WR were contemplating 2-3 years ago

hoping Mexico make an appearance even if they weren't great in the 7s World Cup, but still better than not appearing at all

It looks like 11th place and 7th place matches were scrapped from the Series...

I may be wrong, but I'd say some sides sacrificed Glendale with a very short preseason in order to peak way later in the season, before the Olympics. Anyway, congrats to the USA, who showed great heart.
