Well it is strange that after the world cup he was not talking about retirement but instead was talking about the next step with the new look team he would have due to the retirements of many key players then suddenly he retires. In addition, retiring with less than 2 weeks to the first 6 Nations game ...

Yeah, if he wasn't pushed out, and he just decided to retire just before the Six Nations starts, he's a grade-A asshole.

Since he's been in the role for quite a long time, I just think the RFU felt it was time for a change. I suspect he didn't agree and wanted to continue but was left with no option as the RFU probably said we're not going to reconfirm your position. Mutual agreement. Doubt it.
