Women's Rugby Super Series
http://www.rugbycanada.ca/leagues/newsl ... page=87590
High level women's rugby returns this summer as Alberta(Canada) plays host to Canada, England, USA and New Zealand. These are four of the best teams in the world and I am pretty excited about this. Doubt I'll make it down to Calgary or Red Deer but I definitely plan on getting tickets to the Edmonton games. Especially since Canada will have to be looking to avenge their heartbreaking loss to England last summer.
Women’s Rugby Super Series Schedule:
June 27 – Calgary, AB
Calgary Rugby Park
Game 1: USA vs. England
Kick Off: 4:00pm MT
Game 2: Canada vs. New Zealand
Kick Off: 6:30pm MT
July 1 – Red Deer, AB
Red Deer Rugby Club
Game 1: New Zealand vs. England
Kick Off: 4:00pm MT
Game 2: Canada vs. USA
Kick Off: 6:30pm MT
July 5 – Edmonton, AB
Ellerslie Rugby Park
Game 1: New Zealand vs. USA
Kick Off: 4:00pm MT
Game 2: Canada vs. England
Kick Off: 6:30pm MT

Re: Women's Rugby Super Series
15's is alive and well (in some country's). Sounds like a good serie. England are struggling a bit after some of their WRWC winners retired so it will be difficult for them. New Zealand will be looking also for revenge after their (for them) poor world cup.
Re: Women's Rugby Super Series
Should be a good set of games. Hopefully it's streaming at the very least, or maybe even on TV.

Re: Women's Rugby Super Series
Ellerslie and CRP are both set up to record and I think stream games so at the very least it should wind up online. No idea about the Red Deer facilities as I've never been there. I'd suspect we get close to packed houses for the Edmonton/Calgary games or at least a decent amount of butts in the seats. Unfortunately the FIFA WWC is happening at the same time with some late round games conflicting with the Super Series game times.
FIFA WWC Schedule: http://www.tsn.ca/fifa-women-s-world-cu ... e-1.216611
- Mountain Time(Alberta) is an hour ahead of Pacific Time for anyone who may not know.
The good news is that CTV has the broadcast rights to the conflicting games so TSN could maybe show the WRSS games. I'd hope TSN would at least promote and broadcast the Canada games since those girls do represent our beloved Maple Leaf. CFL games might conflict as June 27th is a doubleheader with Esks vs Argos @ 3pmMT and Winnipeg vs Riders @ 6pmMT. No CFL games on Canada Day(
) and July 5th should be alright as Argos vs Riders is at 1:30pmMT. Not sure what else could conflict with the WRSS but I'm sure I'm missing a couple things.

Re: Women's Rugby Super Series
Great idea this tournament. But I think it would be more interesting to have Australia and not England, as Australia doesn't have any competition to play.
In the future it could become a 8-teams competitions in the shape of Junior Trophy.

Re: Women's Rugby Super Series
Nothing to do with a lack of playing opportunities. If Australia wanted to play tests the playing the opportunities would appear, and if they had wanted to go to Canada they would have been certainly have been welcomed. Rumour is that they turned down several chances to play XVs between 2010 and 2013. They are now saying that they might play tests in 2016. The ARU's commitment to women's 15s is almost non-existant.

Re: Women's Rugby Super Series
yeah they can't even play annual tests with the BFs let alone get to Canada!
Re: Women's Rugby Super Series
USA 13-39 England
Canada 22-40 New Zealand : a pleasant game but with too many errors, especially for locals.

Re: Women's Rugby Super Series
Highlights from the Canada / Black Ferns game. Pretty great turnout for a women's match, I think. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2kHOhg ... e=youtu.be
Canada did well in the first half, but seemed to fall apart a bit in the second. How was the USA/England game? Anyone watch it?

Re: Women's Rugby Super Series
New Zealand 26-7 England
USA 36-28 Canada
Canada loses on Canada Day. This is the worst I've felt since England smashed us in the World Cup.

NZ called Carla Hohepa. Nice to see her still playing. Several years passed since when she was the brilliant star of a World Cup
She is 33 now, which I think is not few for a wing

Re: Women's Rugby Super Series
Canada's squad is pretty inexperienced. I wouldn't be surprised if we drop a bit... That being said, I've given up trying to predict results, as I'm wrong more often than not

Do you think there's the chance to see tonite's matches outside FloRugby?
In Italy Sky Sport don't show the Series but I suppose there will be not a free livestream for the countries where the tv rights have not been sold

Re: Women's Rugby Super Series
Supposedly it's only available on Sky in the UK and NZ. Otherwise FLO, any chance it was on the World Rugby website? I was at the match today, so, no clue. I do know Sky had Nolli Waterman doing commentary in studio in England instead of using the FLO team (smart choice!).
