Ok it was great to see USA like their men really improve this season but I'm happy GB got the last spot if only to have a better quality field in Rio than having US in the top four would've meant. I'm sure the likes of Spain, France, Russia and even the Netherlands are a lot happier with GB qualifying.

Yes, I heard from one source that the French women were cheering for England in that 3rd place match. France will be favourites for the European qualification spot now, but Russia and Spain will be competitive, and I think there must be a good chance that one of those will come through the global repechage.
Re: Olympic 7s qualifiers
Russia will start favourites for the Euro Sevens. France will still be missing Izar, Guiglion and Troncy, and Biscarat and Le Duff may also not be fully fit. That is a lot of key players to lose.
Russia OTOH were careful to rest some key players at Amsterdam to ensure they had their best team for Kazan.
I think Spain will finish above France as well, and I would not be surprised to see Ireland shaking things up a bit.
Will be very interesting to see what team England pick. Hopefully they will try out some young players - they need more spark if they are going to challenge for medals next year,

Not wishing to say that is wrong - World Rugby are not free with their information, nor are they consistent - but have definitely said June. May seems very early considering that the World Series (men and women) does not normally end until mid-May.
In addition there is no room in the repecharge for a free pass to a host nation (which has always been the case in similar previous playoffs) so I'd expect that the tournament will take place in one of the 16 nations that qualify for it - ideally a nation that appears in both the men's and women's draws. My guess for the 16 will be:
Kenya, Uganda and Tunisia from Africa
Hong Kong, Kazakhstan and China from Asia
France, Spain, Netherlands and Ireland from Europe
Samoa and Papua from Oceania
Mexico and Trinidad from NACRA
Colombia and Venezuela from CONSUR
It certainly won't be much different, in which case I think the list of likely hosts would be small - France, Spain or HK (maybe Japan if they fall into it).
Re: Olympic 7s qualifiers
South American tournaments awill be very interesting. Argentina is the favorite, but Colombia runs closely and Venezuela has enough power to upset one of them. Uruguay, in spite of the disapoint tournament in Mar del Plata, has also good chances to be at least in 3rd place. Chile and Paraguay have some chances also, as they did close matches against some of these teams recently. Just Peru and Costa Rica are out of question.

Of course we dont seem to have one page with all the results...
1 Uruguay 36 - 0 Peru
2 Colombia 36 - 0 Costa Rica
3 Paraguay 10 - 5 Chile or 10 - 0
4 Argentina 24 - 5 Venezuela or 24 - 0
Now they put up a page with all results at http://www.consur.org/index.php/compone ... ales-dia-1
all the wins in the first games are to nil though when Facebook gave different
Colombia 15 - 0 Venezuela
Chile 42 - 0 Peru
Paraguay 43 - 0 Costa Rica
we have a shock! Uruguay 14 - 10 Argentina but its also (wrongly?) given on the compilation of results as 14 - 0 to Argentina
@unionargentina "El seleccionado femenino cayó ante Uruguay en su segundo partido por 14 a 10

Re: Olympic 7s qualifiers
Paraguay ? - ? Peru
Venezuela 21 - 0 Chile
Colombia 12 - 0 Uruguay - so now only Colombia unbeaten
Argentina 40 - 0 Costa Rica - v good for Argentina points difference there.
Chile 36 - 0 Costa Rica
Colombia 41 - 0 Peru
Venezuela 15 - 0 Uruguay - Venezuela just totally outplayed Uruguay and messed up a couple of try chances.
Argentina 34 - 12 Paraguay
Well CONSUR totally fail to give the standings so we can say probably that the three places are now between Colombia, Venezuela and Argentina and the qualification place may come down to the winner of Colombia - Argentina depending on what tiebreaker rules are.
It should be that
Colombia 5 wins
Argentina 4 wins
Venezuela & Uruguay 3 wins and likely Paraguay 3 wins too.

Re: Olympic 7s qualifiers
Colombia 22 - 0 Paraguay
So Colombia need to win or draw against Argentina (assuming Arg beat Chile) to win the tournament and qualify directly for Rio. Argentina should get superior points difference if they don't lose against Chile. Colombia should be assured now of one of the top 3 places anyway.
Uruguay 12 - 5 Costa Rica
Argentina 29 - 7 Chile
Venezuela 34 - 0 Peru
With 1 round to go ( corrected )
====================
Colombia 6 wins
Argentina 5 wins
Venezuela 4 wins
Uruguay 4 wins
Paraguay 3 wins
====================
Uruguay 17 - 14 Chile
Venezuela 12 - 7 Paraguay *** Venezuela now assured of a top 3 and repechage place ***
Peru 17 - 12 Costa Rica

Now given as 24-12 on CONSUR website.
I think the original results given on Facebook/Twitter were correct for the other discrepancies (ARG 24-5 VEN, PAR 10-5 CHI). Not sure about this COL-CHI match.
The problem is people in charge of results provision who don't care enough about accuracy.

Argentina and Venezuela have another chance in the global repechage.
It was 10-7 to Colombia - they missed the last conversion attempt. They were losing 7-5 when they scored their try, according to the commentators. Consur tweeted 7-10 originally, then 7-12 as a correction. Other people were tweeting 7-10 before Consur.

They missed both conversions - I just rewound the Youtube livestream. So they corrected a correct score to an incorrect score. Well done Consur.

That sums up the 7s today ( though the SEA games organisers seem to have done a good job )
Re: Olympic 7s qualifiers
Congratulations to Colombia. I didn't see that one coming, but if they can beat Uruguay and Argentina then they obviously deserve their place.
