Actually that is 4430 adults - its 5191 registered players of all ages.
How much of this is due to the UAR taking a sudden interest in women's rugby and registering players previously unregistered, I wonder?
Re: The Rugby Championship
It is seems genuine. The UAR hasn’t published playing numbers since 2015. I got the rest from different features:

2010 >>> 579 >>>> 293,88%
2011 >>> 535 >>>> -7,60%
2012 >>> 919 >>>> 71,78%
2013 >>> 1.612 >>> 75,41%
2014 >>> 2.013 >>> 24,88%
2015 >>> 2.299 >>> 14,21%
2016 >>> 2.663 >>> 15,83%
2017 >>> 3.643 >>> 36,80%
2018 >>> 4.430 >>> 21,60%

Re: The Rugby Championship
In that case I understand even less current women's rugby situation in Argentina. You've got better or equal figures to half Six Nations and us.
Re: The Rugby Championship
Most of those girls started playing two years ago as adults. And the game is as recreational as it gets.
We are still 50 years behind the curve. The numbers are promising though. You have to start somewhere.

If there can be consistency in maintaining the program it will work. there have been many spurts and starts. lets hope that this will be maintained.
Re: The Rugby Championship
Better numbers than Brazil! So, it is a matter of time to Argentina pass Brazil?
Re: The Rugby Championship
you'd think so. Well, if they get the right guidance and good coaches, you know.

Re: The Rugby Championship
So Edgar propsoes a 6-team Pacific tournament.
Meanwhile, I think that the Rugby Championship should be expanded to 6 teams, for example Japan and Fiji. And pro/rel should be considered.

Don´t you think they are getting closer results?
Re: The Rugby Championship
Maybe. Las Pumas were always able to do close match against Brazil in fact. This is not new. So in senior rugby Brazil is still considerably better.
But junior rugby in Argentina looks like bigger. That's a pitty the U18s South American Women's Championship was cancelled. It would've been important to see how good are their young players.

They played this year in Santiago and Brazil won comfortably.
